Sweater, denim, shoes, and handbag c/o Lulus

For some reason, the warm weather that Seattle's been having on and off has me branching out of my standard neutral color palette into light blues and pinks. As soon as I saw this sweater, I knew it would bring out my bright highlights (as always, thanks to Alexa Rae at Haus Salon), so I went for it. Black 90s inspired accessories kept the look a little quirky, and I felt like a mix of Daphne Moon and Carrie Bradshaw bopping down the streets of Ballard on a sunny weekend afternoon. There's nothing like taking on a whole new persona to make you realize your new outfit is going to be a favorite.

Thanks to Lulus for sponsoring this post.

I always think I'm a tomboy until I realize how good I feel in dainty flats and a silky blouse. I was having a hard time styling a print this busy for daytime, but once I realized my new brown bag would be the perfect element to keep the look grounded, it all came together in an instant. A little dressy with a casual edge, this outfit would be perfect for a springy, warm date night...or, as I prefer, drinks with your best girlfriends.

I seriously under-packed for New York City last weekend—and I don't mean I didn't bring enough clothes (technically, I brought too many), it's that I didn't bring the right kind of clothes. I wasn't expecting 30-degree plus windchill temperatures for most of the days I was there. Spring, where are you?!

I ended up throwing on all kinds of layers, including my favorite camel coat over this awesome, unique hoodie. The stripes plus the slits plus the statement sleeves take this standard basic to so many new levels.
