Sweater c/o Lulus (on sale!)  |  Denim c/o Lulus (order 1 to 2 sizes smaller)  |  Velvet loafers c/o Lulus  |  Kate Spade Saturday bag (sold out, similar)  |  Ray-Ban sunglasses

Velvet has been such a big trend lately that I wanted to spend a few posts talking about different ways to wear it, especially for those who might be hesitant. It's a weird fabric and texture, but it does seem to land on the romantic and luxurious end of the scale, which is why it makes perfect sense for looks in the month of love. I tapped Lulus to help me put together three different Valentine's Day looks, and I'm bringing you the first today.

I've never been especially pink or red or lovey-dovey on Valentine's Day, which is why I paired these adorable pink velvet loafers with a deeper toned chunky sweater. The boyfriend jeans also help offset the girliness of the shoes while keeping things casual and comfy for Valentine's Day errands and coffee.

BEST OF: VELVET SHOES

Thank you to Lulus for sponsoring this post.

Lovers + Friends sweater c/o Revolve  |  Topshop denim  |  Steve Madden mules  |  Handbag c/o Coach

A couple weeks back, I was scheduled and ready to shoot with Hallie, and as soon as we met up, it started pouring...all I'll say is that I'm quickly learning the highs and lows of being a blogger based in the Emerald City. We found shelter at the train station downtown, and tried to brighten up the gloomy day with some flower power pants. I'm having a hard time finding this exact design online anymore, but Topshop is the just about the best at embroidered denim, so you're sure to find a pair you love.

ASOS top  |  Abercrombie jacket (sold out, similar)  |  ASOS denim  |  Calvin Klein belt  |  Unnown sneakers  |  Chanel bag loaned c/o Bag Borrow or Steal

Out of my many striped shirts in my closet, this is the first I've purchased that's brown. I really love the split sleeves (visible on the website)—they just give it that extra flair I'm always looking for. It feels very 90s tucked all the way around into high-waisted jeans. For this look, I went with a more every day casual vibe with boyfriend jeans and a coordinating jacket. Saving that 90s inspiration for a sunny day.
