Tee c/o Lulus  |  Faux leather jacket c/o Lulus  |  Lovers + Friends denim  |  Satin sneakers c/o Lulus  |  Velvet clutch c/o Lulus

With Valentine's Day looming on the horizon, half of us are singles and not headed out on a romantic dinner date. I wanted to create a tougher, sassier look for those of us going out with girlfriends or hitting a singles party on February 14—so here it is. If velvet shoes are not your jam, an easy way to wear the velvet trend is with a clutch. Clutches are meant to make a statement, and this luxe olive chevron pattern does just that without overpowering the look. I went a step further and paired this casual tee and jacket with velvet jeans, but it all depends on your level of comfort with this fancy fabric. For me, the more the merrier, which makes Lulus a one stop shop for Valentine's Day velvet—they have over 200 velvet pieces on the site right now.

Stay tuned to see which one I'll be styling next week!
