When I travel, I go everywhere at once—week after week on the road with a night or two at home in between. I don’t do it on purpose, but that’s how it ends up, and it leaves me with not much time to plan my packing between trips.

This past month, I went from cold, mid-winter Boston to the middle of the Caribbean, and since I knew I didn’t have enough warm-weather pieces in my closet at home I went straight to Zappos. Their one-day shipping is crazy fast and dependable, and as soon as I saw these XCVI culottes I had to have them for traversing the jungles of Roatán! The fabric was flowy and breathable, and fit was so comfortable that I can already tell they’ll be getting a ton of wear this spring and summer. Now who wants to go on safari?

Although this is still a simple look—top, jeans, and sneakers—it’s a lot more color and structure than I’m used to wearing. I got this top on super sale from Shopbop and figured it was a good match for this equally colorful and structured statement bag. One might think wearing two statement pieces at a time would just add to the noise, but if you ask me, they cancel each other out and make for a pretty basic look you could wear to brunch, to lunch, or the errands in between.

I can’t believe it’s been a full year since these photos were shot—how time flies! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend POW! WOW! Hawaii this year, but you can bet I followed all the fun very closely on their social media. Spending ten days in the Kaka’ako neighborhood in Honolulu, waking up early every morning and spending late nights with the same people really makes POW! WOW! feel like camp—a really cool, community-oriented, exciting and inspiring island art camp.

To relieve some of my FOMO, I found these outfit snapshots I never got around to sharing last February. It’s always such a blast to partner with Vans Girls during this incredible street art festival—their summer style hits the perfect mark between my simple yet edgy everyday style and laidback, Hawaiian inspiration. They’re always one of the first brands I hit when I head for warm weather. And truth be told, this is exactly the time of year that I start looking to fly somewhere sunny.
