Saturday morning, I'm headed for the wild west. My great-grandmother lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and my whole family is trekking out there for the Frontier Days festival. I've been absolutely flooded with inspiration: tribal prints, fringe everywhere, faded leather and turquoise jewels. I've had a lot of fun shopping this week to pull together my wardrobe story for the trip, and am planning to convince Elyse to recreate this exact photo with me. Giddyup, folks. Truelane is headed west.

P.S. This is my first collage made with Adobe Photoshop! It took forever and still looks a little rough, but you get the idea. I've found a lot of the pieces I'll be packing at Nordstrom, whose anniversary sale starts tomorrow! I'm finally a card-carrying member of my favorite store (snagging the sale prices early) and couldn't be more excited. Shop the sale open to the public tomorrow!

Now I Need...

Forever 21

One, two, three

Once I visualize one piece I need in my closet—the piece that I'm absolutely positive will complete my wardrobe forever—I can't take my mind off it. Currently, I'm obsessing over high-slit tees. I've seen them around Pinterest and the blog world lately, and as much as I love them now, I have a gut feeling they will be one of those pieces that I wear for a season and then am ready to retire. Luckily, Forever 21 has about a zillion affordable styles, five of which are sitting in my cart right now.

Paired with some timeless neutral accessories, this swingy, breeze-of-a-tee is the perfect summer staple.

Olive Thomas mules, Alaïa sandals, Monserat de Lucca bag, J.Crew hat, Oliver Peoples sunglasses

Faraway Festival

The world in which I dress is very black and white. Once in awhile, usually around the months surrounding desert dreams of music festival street style, I take a moment to offer you an explosion of colors and prints. I feel like attending Coachella (not I, unfortunately) lets you become someone else for a weekend. A festival girl. A bindi-marked Vanessa Hudgens. A bohemian child of the desert, just for a day.

One Teaspoon shorts, Street Level handbag, Guess ring, Converse high-tops, Bauble Bar necklace, Boohoo dress, NARS lipstick, Billabong backpack, J.Crew sunglasses, Vans sneakers

Some may question bringing a pair of $300 sunglasses on vacation, but I can say from experience wearing a pair of cheap frames all day isn't comfortable. Sunglasses have always been one of my splurge items. In fact, save/splurge items was a topic Falen and I hit on her PODCAST!

the other day. I tend to spend excessive amounts of money sunglasses and ankle boots. What are your favorite items to splurge on?
